Safe, confident movement at home.
We help people live at home — with mobility, independence, and dignity.
Assessment, coordination, and installation for individuals, families, and healthcare partners — across Northern and Central California.
About Us
Redwood Mobility & Access was founded on a simple conviction: that how we move through our homes shapes how we live in them. We work with individuals, families, and healthcare providers to support recovery and aging in place by creating safer, more accessible home environments — through honest assessment, quality installation, and close coordination with the people who know our clients best.
We are licensed and insured, and committed to clear communication and reliable service from start to finish. We install to ADA specifications when required, and work closely with care teams to ensure every modification is appropriate for the person and the setting.
Falls at home — particularly in bathrooms and at entry points — are among the leading causes of serious injury for adults over 65. Most are preventable. Whether you're recovering, adapting, or simply staying put — we're here at the threshold. That's where our work begins.
Who We Serve
Individuals and families navigating aging in place, post-surgical recovery, or changing mobility needs — who want practical solutions installed correctly and with care.
Veterans accessing home modification benefits — we are experienced working within the VA system and show up ready to do the job right.
Occupational therapists and case managers who need a reliable community partner for home assessments and modifications — responsive, coordinated, and easy to work with.
Hospitals and health systems looking for a trusted referral resource for discharge planning, home safety evaluations, and durable medical equipment guidance across Northern and Central California.
Our Services
Every home has moments of risk — the step at the front door, the threshold of a shower, the rise from a toilet, the turn at the top of a stair. These are not abstract hazards. They are specific, felt, human moments that people navigate every day with varying degrees of confidence and fear. Our work begins there: at the threshold, where movement and lived experience meet. We don't install products. We address transitions.
Accessibility Assessments
A comprehensive walk-through of your home to identify fall risks, mobility barriers, and modification opportunities — with attention to how you actually move through your space. ADA compliant specifications available on request. You receive a clear recommendation and a personalized quote.
Grab Bars & Safety Hardware
Precision-installed grab bars, support rails, and safety hardware in the locations that matter — bathrooms, showers, tubs, and anywhere movement requires support.
Entry & Pathway Modifications
Custom handrails for front doors and entry pathways, walker-friendly transitions, and threshold solutions designed for the moments that happen before anyone even gets inside.
Tub & Toilet Upgrades
We replace existing bathtubs with walk-in showers or step-in tubs, and install comfort height toilets, adaptive bath hardware, and support fixtures — creating bathing and bathroom environments that are safer, easier to use, and built to last.
Durable Medical Equipment
We help clients select the right equipment for their needs, handle setup in the home, and provide hands-on training so the equipment actually gets used — correctly and confidently.
Healthcare Provider Coordination
We work directly with occupational therapists, case managers, discharge coordinators, and healthcare systems to streamline the process from referral to installation — reducing burden on providers and families alike.
Equipment We Work With
We source from the leading manufacturers in home accessibility, safety hardware, and durable medical equipment — and we're not tied to any of them. Our job is to know the landscape well enough to match the right product to the right person, based on your needs, your home, and how you actually live in it.
Brands we regularly specify include:
Moen · Delta · Kohler · Healthcraft · Handicare · Drive Medical · Platinum Health · HOMLAND · Vaunn Medical · Bocca Tubs
A note on our shower work:
We install custom float concrete walk-in showers — a premium alternative to prefabricated units, hand-formed to the exact dimensions of your space. The result is a fully custom shower with the warmth and character of natural concrete, built to last and beautiful enough to stay long after the reason you installed it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is aging in place, and how can you help? Aging in place means staying in your own home safely and independently as your needs change — rather than moving to assisted living or a care facility. We help make that possible through home accessibility assessments, grab bar installation, bathroom modifications, entryway improvements, and durable medical equipment selection and setup.
What does a home accessibility assessment include? We walk through your entire home to identify fall risks, mobility barriers, and modification opportunities — with particular attention to bathrooms, entryways, and high-traffic transitions. You receive a clear recommendation and a personalized quote.
Do you work with VA occupational therapists and case managers? Yes. We coordinate directly with VA care teams to assess the home, recommend appropriate modifications, and manage installation — reducing the coordination burden on both the provider and the veteran.
Are your installers licensed and insured? All installation work is performed by licensed, insured contractors. Redwood Mobility & Access is SAM registered and actively engaged in VA vendor credentialing.
Do your installations meet ADA standards? Yes, when ADA compliance is required. We install grab bars, handrails, and accessibility hardware to ADA specifications when requested — including for healthcare facilities, VA projects, and any application where formal compliance is needed. Let us know at the time of assessment and we will ensure all specifications meet the required standards.
What brands and products do you work with? We work with leading manufacturers including Moen, Delta, Kohler, Healthcraft, Handicare, Drive Medical, Platinum Health, HOMLAND, Vaunn Medical, and Bocca Tubs, among others. We don't represent any single brand — our job is to know the options well enough to recommend the right product for each person and each home.
How quickly can you complete an installation? Most standard installations — grab bars, handrails, hardware — are completed within a few days of assessment. Larger modifications like tub-to-shower conversions are scheduled based on scope and material lead times.
What areas do you serve? We serve clients across Northern and Central California — from the East Bay north to Redding, east to Susanville, west to Fort Bragg, and south along the coast to Monterey. Not sure if we reach you? Call us.
